January Favourites!

Most of the time when it gets to the end of a month, you'll hear me saying 'where on earth did that month go, it went by so fast'. However, January for me seemed to drag and drag so I'm finally glad that it has come to an end and we will soon be saying 'Hello' to February.

I thought I would share with you a few of my favourite products from this month!
Enjoy!

  • Benefit Porefessional PRO balm - Sadly I don't own the full size of this but I am plenty stocked up on samples! I use this just on my nose and chin where I have large pores and this makes a huge difference for me. It evens out my skin and really does minimise the look of my pores!
  • MAC Powder Blush in Desert Rose - The perfect all rounder. A great every day matte pink shade. Great colour pay off so be careful when applying as it can sometimes go on a bit heavy. Perfect for those who don't want any shimmer on their cheeks!
  • Maybelline Pure Cover Mineral Concealer - I've had this concealer for ages! I have just rediscovered it after I ran out of my Lasting Perfection concealer. This is great! It's a much lighter formulation than the Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection but still gives fantastic cover. It's not drying and doesn't crease under my eyes....winner!

  • Carmex Lip Balm - Cheap and cheerful - Does what it says on the tin! This has kept my lips feeling healthy and nourished during our coldest month yet!
  • Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake - One of my favourite all time lip colours. I loved this all of last year and have continued to love it. I haven't had many nights out this month so this has been perfect for a day time look.
  • Maybelline Colossal Volume Express Mascara - Another product which I rediscovered. I used to love this and only stopped using it to try others out. This gives both great length and volume to my lashes and lasts all day!

  • Cosmopolitan Beauty Sponge - A cheaper Alternative to the classic 'Beauty Blender'. This is my third re purchase of this product. A must have for those of you with dryer skin. Foundation blends beautifully and applies really smoothly giving you flawless skin. I've used this during this month instead of a brush as my skin has been so dry and it's really helped!
  • INIKA Organic Eyeliner in 07 Graphite - I have used this liner all over my lid for an easy smokey eye look. Fantastic to use on your lower lash line too for something a bit more dramatic. Fantastic colour pay off and wear and also friendly to the environment. Brilliant!

  • E45 Cream - A bit more of an explanation for this one. This month I suffered from a severe allergic reaction which started out as an awful rash covering my whole face and body. It took about two weeks for my skin to heal and while it was healing it was SO dry! My skin on my face was literally flaking away it was really upsetting. I had to completely change my skin care routine and one of the steps involved this. Since using this on my body and on my face instead of moisturiser my skin has never been better. My skin wasn't even this good before I can't praise it enough! A Fantastic solution to dry skin problems!

If you'd like any more in depth reviews/swatches on any of these products please leave a comment and I will be more than happy to do one :)

What have been your favourite products this month?

No7 Natural Blush Cream Review

Good evening all you lovely people.

I thought I would try and cheer up the dreaded Sunday evening with a cheerful review!

A few weeks ago while I was in boots I realised I had one of the No7 vouchers in my purse so decided to go and have a browse at the No7 Stand!

Having already totally failed with project pan I went and had a nosey!

Nothing stood out to me really but I have just used up the last of my favourite Maybelline cream blush so I decided it was about time I tried a new one!

Here's what I picked up!

I bought the No7 Natural Blush Cream in the shade 'Romantic' very fitting with Valentines Day coming up! It appealed to me as it looked like a really wearable every day colour in the pan!

The fact that it is Hypo-Allergenic is great for me too as recently I suffered a really bad allergic reaction to a different product, so I knew while my skin was repairing that this would be safe to use.

After reading up a little bit on the product I also found out that it contains Vitamins E and Pro Vitamin B5 which are very conditioning for your skin.

The product its self comes in sturdy, sleek black packaging. It's a fantastic mid, muted pink colour with great colour pay off and is really buildable, which is great if you're like me and easily make a mess with blush!

The blush has a really creamy texture and applies nicely. I use a small stippling brush and it's SO easy to blend!

This has fast become my 'go to' every day blush. Wearable colour, easy to blend and no nasties. For £8 or £5 when using one of the £3 off vouchers you definitely can't go wrong!

What's your favourite cream blush?

Life changes - an update.

So here we are just three weeks in to the new year and already I'm blogging about change.

This year I decided to go in to the new year with a positive mental attitude and a willingness to change the things I was unhappy with.
I'm usually one of these people who has no trouble at remembering one tiny bad thing that happened in the day but easily forgets maybe the five great things that happened.

As you probably read in my 'hello 2013' post there were things I wanted to change or accomplish. One of the unspoken and unwritten ones though was my job. I love my job and the people that I work with, however I started to feel like I had become stuck in this routine of work.

I'm only twenty one yet I have worked at the same place for three years and it was my first job. It was very 'safe' for me.

Recently an opportunity came up that I decided I couldn't turn down. More hours, more money, really close to home and fantastic people to work for. I wasn't actively looking for work at the time, the chance of this job came to me and I'm so happy that it did.

I really do believe that it's because I have been in such a happy place, with no stress or worries that this happened. It marks the start of me being able to afford to drive, start saving to move out and being able to enjoy myself more.

If there's one thing you can learn from this. It's to maybe look at your own attitude to life, and see if there's anything you can change for the better. Often something better comes along when you're not trying so hard to search for it or make it happen.

Enjoy :)

First Impressions MUA Pro-Base Conceal and Brighten Kit.

This weekend I had a nice trip in to town to spend some vouchers I still had remaining from Christmas.

Luckily for me I had a £10 voucher for Superdrug, which I was yet to spend! I am doing Project Pan at the moment which is going pretty well, but I figured spending a voucher on makeup was ok!

I don't usually buy MUA makeup as I already have so much and I know I would go crazy with how cheap it is! However, on Saturday this little product caught my eye and I had to try it!

This is the MUA Pro-Base Conceal and Brighten Kit! It retails for £3.50 in Superdrug but at the moment in my local store is on offer at £2.50....bargain!

I've only used this for 2 days so far but my first impressions are mixed!

The packaging is pretty basic looking. Pretty much what you would expect for the price but on the plus side it seems really sturdy! There is a mirror on the inside...teeny tiny but none the less there!

There are three shades. Two concealers and one highlighter shade. One of the concealers has yellow under tones and one has more pink undertones. The shade that suits me best is in the middle, the yellow toned one.

I used this under my eyes and it does really cover my dark circles and brighten the area. However it is really sheer so I had to build it up quite a lot! The good thing is though, that when you do layer it, it doesn't at all look cakey.

It has a really creamy, smooth texture and isn't tacky at all like I find with a lot of concealers!

This concealer did crease a little bit under my eye area but this is to be expected with any concealer really and it doesn't bother me too much, I can work with it! I'm yet to find one which doesn't crease.

I tried both the concealer shades on a red blemish that is sitting proudly on my chin! This is where the product failed for me. It just didn't cover well enough and it budged off pretty much straight away!

The final shade is a sort of red/purple highlighter which has tiny shimmers in it. It really is a strange colour! I used this on my cheek bones just above where my blush was and I loved it! To look at in the pan it's really odd but on the cheeks its lovely. I think it would be also nice on your brow bone but I'm yet to try that!

Both the concealer and the highlighter lasted pretty much all day which is great. Other than on my blemishes.

I think I will be using this for a while longer to give it a pretty fair trial but so far I think it was worth the £2.50 I payed definitely!

2012 Hair Favourites

This year hasn't really been a great year for me hair wise.

I started the year with very long, thick, healthy hair and ended it well, much the opposite!

After being ill and having my operation my hair changed ALOT.
It started to dramatically fall out and go much thinner which was a shock for me as I had always had such thick hair! However, there wasn't much I could do as it was due to stress on my mind and body from surgery. I did find some good products which helped though and here they are!

Samy Fat Hair '0' Calories Shampoo and Conditioner.
I went on a serious hunt for a good thickening shampoo and conditioner and I found it! Reasonably priced at £5.59 but now even cheaper in the sale in superdrug at £2.75! It is sulphate and paraben free so it's super hair friendly and after just a few washes I really noticed a difference in the condition of my hair. A brilliant product for me, can't rave enough about them! An added bonus is that they smell lovely and fresh too!

Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Moisture Mist.
I discovered this through Glossybox. I was already a fan of the brand before I received this as my hairdressers use their products, so I was excited to receive this. It's the perfect little pick me up for when your hair is feeling a bit dry and unloved! I often use it at the same time as dry shampoo. Dry shampoo does a great job of freshening up your hair but it can leave it brittle and that's where the Miracle Mist comes in handy!
Schwarzkopf got2b Guardian Angel Heat Protection.
Does exactly what it says. Protects my hair when curling, straightening or blow drying at the same time as smelling amazing! Big thumbs up!
V05 Smoothly does it, Frizz Free Creme.
Another product which I discovered after my operation when my hair was lifeless. I use this more to add shine to my hair and add a bit more moisture and it works great for that as well as keeping the frizz at bay!

Denman Back Combing Brush.
This is amazing for adding volume to your hair by back combing! I only use it now and then as I don't want to damage my hair but it really is great. So great that several of my friends now own one because they loved it too!
Pink Tangle Teezer.
My most loved hair brush. I very rarely stray from this. Does a great job of getting through tangles and also keeping static away! I bought these for friends at Christmas and everyone loves them!

As you can see, I didn't choose a huge amount in hair care as from August onwards I wasn't really worrying about hair, just recovering. Hopefully this year I will have a better hair year and discover more products!

Say hello to 2013.

Recently I've seen a lot of these posts on blogs, tumblr and youtube! Most people have seen them all before but I still decided to do one anyway. Not really for anyone else, but so that in a years time I can look back and see all I have accomplished since this post.

Let's just start with this...2012 was a crap year for me! Firstly a break up, then a big argument with one of my brothers which lasted about 4 weeks. Things started to pick up in the summer...I went on a girls holiday but then ended up getting my drink spiked. Four days after arriving home my best friend of 13 years moved from two doors next to me to Australia...that was a huge adjustment to make. Even worse, just two weeks after arriving home I was taken in to hospital with suspected appendicitis. This would have been bad enough for me, but it wasn't even to be that simple.

I ended up staying in hospital quite a while and having one of the biggest operations a person can have. My recovery took a very long time! I still haven't started back at work but will be starting a phased return next week! However, I'm now 5 months on, I would say I feel 90% recovered and I'm getting my life back again.

Being off sick for that long really made me think about a lot of stuff! As corny as it may sound, it really did put my life in to perspective. It forced me to think about a lot. I realised at my lowest points who were my true friends and from that, cut all the negative people out my life. Certain people you just have to deal with because they will always be there, but I learnt to ignore them and just let everything they do and say go over the top of my head.

Taking all this in to account I really made the decision to make this year a year of change and more a year of happiness. I have realised that a lot of the things I am unhappy about are really easy to change. Which takes me on to my three goals for this year. Not resolutions as such, just things I would like to achieve.

  1. Find a hobby. Well this wasn't hard at all! I have been saying for ages that I need to make a proper start with my blog. So that's exactly what I'm going to do! I'm on day 6 and loving it right now! Already I have made a beauty blogging friend, which definitely helps when it comes to motivation! You can find her blog here.
  2.  Become more active. From the ages of 4-17 I was a serious dancer. I didn't want to do anything else but dance. Unfortunately though I realised that I had to compromise when it came to school, college, exams and applying for jobs. I needed to do something realistic and there just wasn't time anymore. Since my operation I lost a lot of vital muscles that most people take for granted and now it's time I started building them back up! I've decided to enroll on a Pilate's class and also a Zumba class once a week to ease myself back in!
  3. Spend more time with family. Before my operation I was a social little bee! I was out every weekend and weekday with my friends and spending little to no time with my family! After my operation I became very dependant on my family and realised how much I love spending time with them! Going out with friends all the time is great but it leaves no time (or money) for anything else so I'm working on getting the balance just right!

So I challenge everyone else to say hello to 2013! Make it an amazing year and fill it with happy things, after all.....we did survive 21.12.2012 so we should be pretty appreciative! If there's something you want to change then change it. If there's something you want to do, then take the steps to make it happen!

Moving on...I've been sat here an hour trying to word this and the smell of roast lamb is taking my attention. Happy Sunday :)

2012 Make Up Favourites

2012 has been more a year of finding which products are right for my skin and suit me, rather than discovering too many new products. I finally found the right base combination which works for me, and also discovered very late on the bandwagon...Primer Potion, which has been a saviour for my oily eye lids!

I have decided to keep this post just to make up rather than including skin care and hair care, other wise it would be seriously long! Keep an eye out for those soon though.

Here we go, I'll try and get straight to the point because it's going to be a long one!

Borjois Healthy Mix Foundation (Shade 52 Vanilla)
I love this foundation! It's perfect for my skin as I have an oily t zone but dry patches round my mouth too. It doesn't make me shiny and doesn't cling either. Medium coverage but buildable too!
Dr Jart BB Cream
I received this in a Glossybox and fell in love with it. It's the only BB cream that I have tried that hasn't broken me out. It's pretty light coverage but perfect for those days when you can't really be bothered!
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (Medium)
My favourite setting powder of all time. Takes away any shine without looking cakey on my skin!
Sleek Contour Kit (Light)
The bronze in here is a perfect matte shade and not too orange at all so great for contouring cheek bones and also your temples! The highlight shade is also nice but I use this more for the bronze.
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer (Light 2)
Please excuse how messy this is. It's impossible to keep clean which is one down fall. I love this concealer for under eye circles and covering blemishes. It can be drying at times but as long as you use eye cream it's brilliant!

 Eyeko Fat Balm (Frosting)
I have had this for a while but only just discovered it again! Unfortunately I think it has been discontinued now but I sometimes see these in Tk Maxx so it's worth a shot looking there! This has become my holy grail Cream blush. It can also be used on your lips too and is really moisturising! The shade  is 'frosting' its a bright pink colour but really does smell like cupcake frosting!
Topshop Powder blush (Pop)
This photo isn't very true to colour. The actual shade is a very bright pink/coral colour and I wore this all through summer! It's really well pigmented but doesn't come off too bright on your cheeks which is perfect!
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer
Another bargain that I picked up in Tk Maxx and it really does smell of chocolate! Some people might find this off putting but it's fine for me! I love this bronzer as it's really buildable and completely matte. I'm not a fan of shimmery bronzers as I already have quite shiny skin!

Revlon Lip Butter (Strawberry Shortcake)
I was so happy when these were released in the UK earlier this year. I have 2 other colours but this is my favourite. It's the perfect girly pink colour and is quite sheer so great to build the colour up. Really moisturising and lasts a good time too.
LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub
I seriously don't know how I managed without this. It's a very strong bubblegum scent which sometimes is a bit over powering but it does wonders for my lips. I use this before a lip balm or cream and my lips stay smooth all day.
MAC Cremesheen (Creme Cup)
My favourite go to lipstick. Lovely every day pink but not too barbie or bright colour. Really nice smooth formula too. Being MAC though the price lets it down a bit!
Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss (002 Cystal Lilac)
As you can see from the photo this has been very well used! I love wearing this lipgloss alone as it's quite pigmented but it also goes lovely over lipstick too. A really nice non sticky formula.

Urban Decay Supercurl Curling Mascara
Does exactly as it says! I got this in my book of shadows and it's amazing! It curls my lashes brilliantly and doesn't budge either! The wand is a C shape which is great for curling lashes and it doesn't clump them together like a lot of my others do!
POP beauty Lid Bronzer Eye Shadows
I wore these colours religiously through the summer and while I was on holiday! It's the perfect size to throw in your handbag and they are really nicely pigmented. Another purchase from Tk Maxx that I'm glad I found!
Urban Decay Primer Potion
I can't believe I was so late in buying this. Words cannot describe how much I love it! My Eye shadow does not budge all day and night and it's even meant that I can now use cream shadows. Without this, eye shadow doesn't stand a chance on my oily lids!
Soap and Glory Smoulder Kohl (Super black)
I never stray from pencil liners and this is the best I have found yet. It is extremely black and it doesn't need layering on. It transfers a tiny bit to my top lash line but nothing too dramatic. The little sharpener in the lid is really handy too!

So there we have it! What have been your favourite products from 2012? Did you like anything the same as me, or maybe not? Hopefully this wasn't so long that it has bored you all!

Project Pan

Going in to the new year I always try and have a bit of a clear out to make space for the bits and bobs I got for Christmas!

This year I realised I have a serious lack of space for the amount of make up and beauty products I own!

My first thought was...'I need to invest in more storage'. I then realised how silly to spend more money on more storage so that I could spend more money on more products to put there! Especially when I have products galore all backed up!

Which takes me to 'Project Pan'. I have decided that I'm going to start using up these products before I buy anything else! When one bottle of Shampoo is gone I will use the next or purchase a new one if I don't have any others, and so on for all the other products!

When it comes to make up I have decided to literally 'hit pan' before I can buy for example a new blush or bronzer.

It's a win win situation really. I'm saving myself money and space and at the same time im properly using products so I can give a decent 100% review and opinion on them!

I will post my progress on here and hopefully it will give me a bit of encouragement to actually stick with it!

Happy New Year!

Well it's that time of year again! Time for everybody to make their new year resolutions and not stick to them! The day when everyone is feeling hungover from the night before yet still manages all the New Years Day food and the huge roast!

2012 came to an end but luckily for us the world didn't, unfortunate for the Mayans but I'm sure they'll get over it!

So for me this time of year again means that I will TRY and regularly blog! The past year has been a real struggle for me. Just as I began to gain a very small amount of followers and view posts crept up, I fell ill and ended up having a major surgery which left me out of work for 5 months and in hospital for a while. You would think with all that time spare it would be the perfect time to start my blog, which I have to agree I thought about many times. However, it has also been a very sad and difficult part of my life, one which I am still working at coming to terms with and dealing with and I didn't want to look back on a bunch of depressing posts!

 Image taken from weheartit.com

So here I am once again. I hope people stick with me an
d continue to comment and view my posts, and hopefully 6 months down the line I will have a few more followers and maybe a few new friends!

Happy New Year to everyone, I hope this one brings you health and happiness!
