February Empties!

Hello Ladies (and Gents if any of you are reading).

I've finally sorted out my hectic work schedule and I'm back with a post! *claps for me*

Not so many empties this month but empty none the less. I've made a tiny dent in my slightly large collection of beauty products.

Here they are...

  1. Natural Collection Vanilla Body Mist - One down, five to go. I have a constant supply of these. They've been my favourite scent and used every day since I was in year 9 at school....8 years ago!
  2. Vanilla & Icing Hand wash - A cheapy poundland purchase. Nothing to rave about, not very scented and didn't lather very well.
  3. Blistex Relief Cream - Another staple of mine. I've used this stuff for years. Really annoying to squeeze out as you always get more than you wanted! However it's the best thing for my lips when they're really dry and chapped!
  4. Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara - Again...another of my staples. This is one of my favourite mascaras which I always re purchase. Really great for separating the lashes and making them appear fuller!
  5. Urban Decay Primer Potion - Not much to say about this...really great product, works a treat on oily eye lids and lasts a long time. Definitely going to re purchase this one!
  6. Body Care Cosmetics Pads - Cheap and cheerful, did the job of taking nail polish off!

A Question for my followers (Please Read)

A total non beauty related, quick post today sorry!

I just wonder whether any of my followers have ever had a laparotomy surgery before? If not, does anyone know of any good blogs or forums where people share their experiences?

Would love to find out and speak to others who have!

So I realise I have been a little bit missing in action for the past week but I've not disappeared!

I'm just getting in to the swing of things with my new job. I've gone from no work since August (due to having a major surgery) to working 36 hour weeks so I'm pretty tired and finding it hard to fit everything in!

Hopefully after this week I'll have some time to catch up with my blog and everything else (my laundry pile is huge!)

If you can't see anything too recent from me on here you can follow me on tumblr here! I usually post quite frequently on there!

I'm also on twitter and instagram...my instagram link you can find on the right hand side of my blog and you can find my twitter name on my 'contact me' page!

Collection Cover and Go Foundation and Concealer Duo Review.

The biggest reason that I started this blog was so that I could show others products which I think are great and worth buying and also products that aren't worth spending your pennies.

Unfortunately today this is a product which I was say definitely isn't worth spending on!

I noticed the Collection Cover and Go Foundation and Concealer Duo whilst I was in Asda. It was on sale for £3.87 as an introductory price. I figured that seeing as it is one of the newest product since re branding from Collection 2000 that I may as well give it a go!

I'm all for a gimmick and this seemed like a pretty cool concept. Foundation in the tube and a concealer and mirror in the lid...great for being on the go and throwing in your handbag.

Firstly the packaging...pretty basic but in my opinion quite tacky looking with the gold and black. The plastic cap is really sturdy and the foundation comes in a squeezy tube.

I picked this up in the shade 'Fair 3'. There weren't many shades to choose from only 6 but this was ok for me.

  (Here's the foundation un blended)
Firstly I tried the foundation. I applied it with my fingers first time around as I thought that's what you'd do if you were on the go!

The texture is pretty thick. It feels nice when you are first applying but things soon change. I didn't think I had many dry patches at all left on my face. But as soon as I applied this and blended it in it clung to every single dry patch I didn't even know I had. I felt like it just sat on top of my skin.

As much as I tried blending it just wouldn't, there were streaks everywhere.

I persevered with this for a few more uses trying my Real Techniques buffing brush and also a beauty blender but everything gave the same result.

(Concealer and Mirror in cap)

I really hoped that the concealer on the other hand might perform. I'm a huge fan of Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer it's my favourite so I thought maybe this would be great too!

I found the concealer to be so dry and hard to blend. I just couldn't use it.

Over all...the idea is good and I like the concealer being in the lid with a mirror...very handy. The product just doesn't produce for me at all. I'm just glad the price didn't break the bank!

I'd be interested to hear whether anyone else has tried this and what your thoughts are about it?

Mini Haul

This weekend I popped in to town for a browse and a mooch around as I had nothing else to do!

I didn't see much that really took my fancy to be honest, fashion or beauty wise but I did pick up a few select small bits and pieces.

Here they are!

  1. River Island Finger Top Rings - I love these. I have a few which I bought in Topshop months ago but even the small size in there were slightly big for me. These fit perfectly and £2 is hardly breaking the bank!
  2. Sure Maximum Protection Deodorant - I needed a new deodorant as I find that after so long my body becomes used to what I'm using and it stops being so effective. I've been using this since the weekend and so far so good! The idea is that you put it on before bed and it keeps you protected for up to 48 hours!
Thisworks Sleep Balm - I've heard this be raved about loads in the blogosphere and on youtube and have always been curious. I own the sleep balm from the Avon range and LOVE it so hopefully this will perform too! It's a little pricey full price at £11 but I picked this up in Tk Maxx for £3.50...bargain!
  1. NIP + FAB Sheer Make Up Fix - This claims to be a 'non tinted BB cream' perfect for use on it's own to smooth skin and create an even skin tone or under makeup as a primer. I'll be testing this out and coming back with a full review! Another bargain from Tk Maxx, at full price £14.99 but in Tk Maxx £4.99!

Have you tried any of these products? If so, what do you think?!

Thank you!

Today I realised that I reached 50 followers!

To many of you that may seem a little insignificant amount and too many it may seem a huge amount.

But....let me tell you. I would have never expected when I started my blog that 50 people somewhere in this world would enjoy reading my blog enough to want to click that little 'follow' button, so I'm shocked and very flattered!

I would love to say a huge thank you to everyone who has followed, commented or even any one who just passes by my blog and reads without following.

It means a huge deal to me and makes me even more determined to carry on blogging! I love it!

I'm really keen on chatting with and getting to know you all, as I love speaking with people who share the same interests as me (none of my friends do!). So leave a comment or email me (my address is on my contact me page) if you ever fancy a 'beauty' natter!

Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express Mascara Review.

Recently I hopped on the bandwagon and bought the latest mascara from Maybelline.

I've always enjoyed using Maybelline mascaras and they generally tend to be some of my favourites so I was excited to try this one!

The mascara comes in the typical Maybelline packaging. This one is purple and pink....lovely!

The mascara promises 'Lashes have 8x more volume, clump-free, even from root to tip. Super fast'.
That's a big promise to live up to!

This mascara has a plastic wand and it's pretty big as you can see! It really reminds me of the Maxfactor False Lash Effect Mascara!

I've found that you need to wipe the brush a little as you get too much product at first. Hopefully after a few more uses this will improve.

One great thing about this mascara is that it dries with just enough time to apply a second coat if you wanted to without taking ages and risking getting it all over your lids!

(Eye without any mascara on top or bottom lashes)

(Eye with mascara on top and bottom lashes)

This mascara definitely added a lot of drama and volume to my lashes! After eight hours wear it was still going strong and held the curl really nicely.

I think this mascara is going to quickly replace my love for the Maybelline Colossal! At the moment in Boots it is priced at £5.99 which I believe is just an introductory price so buy it cheap while you can!

Another great product. Well done Maybelline you delivered again!

What are your first impressions of the Rocket Volum' Express?

A Blog Make Over

Apologies everyone for my lack of posts recently.

Along with a new job and a horrible virus I've been a bit busy!

You might notice that my blog has had a bit of a 'face lift'. I was really bored of my old layout and background so decided to have a play around, making some different headers etc.

I have finally come up with something I'm happy with!

Hopefully it's just as easy if not easier for you to navigate through and posts will be much clearer.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have to fiddle with html codes again for a long time!

Keep your eyes peeled for some product reviews and empties posts coming up this week!

Let me know what you think of the new layout!
